Women have been competing with other women since the beginning of time. Sarah competed with Hagar. Rachel competed with Leah. And Esther competed with an entire harem of women! Even though this is not new behavior, it is not God’s plan for women.
I believe that you and I can break this cycle. Instead of seeing another woman as a threat or competition, let’s look at her as a sister. She has a Divine purpose to fulfill! Helping her achieve that purpose through prayer, encouragement, or actions will not affect you from achieving God’s Divine plan for your life. Please read that again!
It is disheartening to me when I hear a woman or group of women tear one another down. It’s equally upsetting when women refuse to promote one another. This negative behavior is rooted in bitterness and jealousy because they aren’t seeing the perceived victory in their own lives. Let me make something clear — her success doesn’t affect yours. But allowing envy to take root in your heart does!
The truth is women need other women. Stepping out in obedience is scary no matter how put together she appears. So, let’s make a conscious decision to start cheering her on and encouraging her. Share her post on social media. Promote her business. Invite her to speak at your event. Tell her that you are proud of her. Be the reason she keeps chasing all that God has for her.
Ladies, this life is a long race as you strive to fulfill your purpose. Instead of just focusing on how you perform, stop and help lace another woman’s sneakers so that she can win too!
The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. — Proverbs 11:25
